Specializing in the Diagnosis & Treatment of Hormone Imbalance
Hormones are not drugs. Hormones are natural substances which function as messengers to stimulate cells to heal, reproduce and rejuvenate. Disease and symptoms of ageing occur when hormone levels decline. Physical deterioration is not a requirement for growing older. Natural hormone supplementation can help your healthy ageing.

You may benefit from testosterone therapy if any of these scenarios apply to you. You don’t need a treasure map to find your endurance, stamina, strength, muscles, and well-being. The only map you need is the one to our office.
Total Care Family Center hormone therapy includes an office visit, a Male Hormone Evaluation questionnaire, recommendations for serum blood testing and a complete evaluation of lab results. Evaluations have a follow-up Office Visit or phone consultation to review test results and the treatment plan. Patients should schedule this after the Male Hormone Evaluation for 2-3 days. Blood testing for men may include testosterone, SHBG, DHEA, PSA, Vitamin D, and Thyroid functions (TSH, T3). Other tests may be ordered as needed.
It is possible to slow down the undesirable aspects, symptoms and diseases associated with aging. Only after a complete physical examination and laboratory evaluation will a personalized hormone supplementation program be prescribed for you and then monitored by our providers until your optimal hormone levels have been achieved.
Testosterone is a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands and testes. It contributes to muscle mass, strength and endurance, decreased fat, increased exercise tolerance, and enhanced well-being and psychological status. Testosterone protects against cardiovascular disease, hypertension, body fat and arthritis. It leads to improved lean muscle mass, increased bone density, decreased cholesterol, improved skin tone, improved healing capacity, and increased libido and sexual performance.
Testosterone is the best hormone to increase collagen and elastin in the skin. It prolongs the quality of life by decreasing the diseases of aging. Testosterone is the second most crucial hormone for energy and well-being.
Testosterone can be delivered in 3 main ways: A compounded cream that is applied to the skin 1-2 times a day An intramuscular injection is given here in our office once every 5-21 days, depending on levels. Once a client is comfortable with self-injection, he can be given a prescription for home use. Pellets are placed here in our office, under the skin, for a 4-6 month release of hormones.

Men experiencing persistent fatigue, reduced muscle mass, decreased libido, mood changes, difficulty concentrating, or reduced endurance may consider a hormone evaluation. A thorough assessment and lab testing are necessary to determine whether testosterone levels are contributing to symptoms.
Hormone therapy is carefully monitored through routine follow-up visits and laboratory testing to ensure testosterone levels remain within appropriate ranges. Monitoring also helps evaluate symptom improvement and identify any potential side effects.
Testosterone therapy is prescribed based on clinical guidelines and individualized risk assessment. Providers review medical history, cardiovascular risk factors, and other health considerations before recommending treatment. Ongoing monitoring supports safe and responsible management.
While altitude itself does not directly lower testosterone, lifestyle factors common in Colorado Springs — such as high physical activity levels, stress, and sleep patterns — may influence how symptoms are experienced. A comprehensive evaluation includes discussion of lifestyle and overall health.
In most cases, a referral is not required to schedule an evaluation at Total Care Family Center. As a primary care provider in Colorado Springs, we can assess symptoms directly and determine whether hormone testing or therapy may be appropriate.
