Preceptorship Program for PMHNP, NP/DNP students
Total Care Family Center offers a structured Preceptorship Program for Nurse Practitioner (NP) students who are seeking hands-on clinical experience as part of their academic training. This program provides an opportunity for students to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom while developing additional clinical and patient-care skills in a real healthcare environment.
Clinical practicum hours are a critical component of every NP program and are required for graduation. Through the Total Care Family Center Preceptorship Program, students gain valuable exposure to primary care practice and patient management while working alongside experienced medical professionals.
During the program, students will have the opportunity to observe and participate in patient appointments, assist with clinical documentation and chart notes, and learn about the day-to-day operations of a primary care clinic. Our team will also coordinate with your educational institution to ensure all practicum requirements and verification documentation are completed properly.
Total Care Family Center is committed to supporting the next generation of healthcare providers by offering meaningful clinical learning experiences in a supportive and professional environment.
Student Placement
At Total Care Family Center, our medical team cares for patients with a wide range of health concerns, including conditions such as asthma, diabetes, infections, minor injuries, and other primary care needs. We also provide comprehensive services including physical examinations, preventive health screenings, chronic disease management, and routine wellness care.
Students participating in clinical training should note that Total Care Family Center serves patients across multiple age groups, including children, adolescents, and adults. While this provides valuable exposure to a variety of patient cases, the number of patients in certain age groups may vary throughout the year, particularly during seasonal periods such as school breaks.
Our team is committed to supporting student success. Total Care Family Center will work closely with your educational institution to help fulfill your program’s clinical requirements, so it is important that students communicate all practicum guidelines and expectations prior to the start of their placement.
Students will be scheduled at least two (2) 8-hour shifts per week for the normal 12–13-week semester. Any accelerated programs or requirements will be addressed on an individual basis with the preceptor.
